Using Google Password Manager

Overview

Within Google Chrome, the Google Password Manager can save your passwords and automatically fill in your credentials for convenient access. 

Most users will benefit from the quick-add Alternatively Adding section


Navigating to Google Password Manager

  1. Create a New Tab on your Google Chrome Browser

  2. Click Customize and Control (the 3 vertical dots icon) on the very top right

  3. Select Passwords and Autofill, then select Google Password Manager


The Google Password Manager page will look similar to the image below:


Managing Passwords

In order to SAVE a password:

  1. Click Add, then you will be prompted to add the Website Link, Username, and Password

  2. Type in the website link. Or copy and paste the link.

    1. ensure you enter the specifically the log in page link

  3. Type in the username and password that will be used for that specific website

In order to REMOVE or EDIT a stored password:

  1. Select the website you want to remove your saved credentials from

  2. Enter your account password (or laptop PIN if enabled)

  3. Clicked Edit or Delete

  4. If you make changes after editing, ensure to click Save.


Alternatively Adding from the Website

Many, but not all, sites allow you to save your credentials on the login page

  1. On the website credentials page, just type in your user and password, but do NOT press enter, sign in, log in, etc.

  2. On the top right may appear Save Your Password (the key icon), click it

  3. Confirm the user and password are correct, then click Save.
